Review of the day

Pure Poteen was a big disappointment this afternoon…

I was quite concerned before the off, when the market seemed set on opposing him – but even more so after he tried to take the very first fence with him !

He managed to stay upright – but was playing a chasing game from that point on and was beaten, when finally coming to grief at the fourth last.

It’s primarily the risk of jumping errors, that put me off tipping EW – and today demonstrated how costly they can be (as a mistake can scupper two bets, rather than one).

In truth, I’m not sure whether the ground was an issue or not.
The horse looked a bit rusty to me – but it was difficult to judge properly, with him on the back foot from such an early stage.

All the way up the home straight, the race looked likely to go to the favourite, Lovely Job – but he was collared in the shadow of the post by Askamore Darsi, to give Donald McCain a particularly sweet victory…

Earlier on the card, Vyta Du Roc was put in his place, by Bouvreuil.
As I said this morning, he looked no value at 2/5 – and Bouvreuil proved comfortably his superior on the day.

Whilst in the mares hurdle, Iron Butterfly was an even more comfortable winner.
She is now 3 from 3 at Town Moor – and is clearly at the top of her game…

Just a reminder, that as it’s a Friday, I will open the tipping window at 6:00 this evening, in case there is anything I can tip early in tomorrows big races.

TVB.
