De
Faoithesdream was a little disappointing this afternoon.
He
led the field from the off, as I’d hoped – and despite being harassed for most
of the journey, still seemed to be travelling quite nicely, jumping the third
last.
From
that point however, he just quietly backed out of things – and ultimately
finished next to last.
It
was quite strange to witness – and frustrating because neither of the race
favourites featured in the finish (and I was quite keen to take them
on).
Instead, the race was won, very comfortably, by Sea
Wall.
I
could almost as easily, have sided with him this morning – but I just felt that
De Faoithesdream was the better animal…
In
the opener on the card, Saffran De Cotte was amazingly, backed down to 3/1 – but
finished well beaten (again).
In
fairness, he did travel quite nicely in his first time blinkers – but it was
clear with a circuit to go, that he wasn’t going to get home.
I
can’t imagine where connections go with him from here…
Gallic Warrior was good winner of the handicap chase at
3:15.
I thought his price of 7/2 this morning was a bit tight – so I couldn’t have been remotely interested in him, at the SP of 2/1.

Ofcourse, that was never going to stop him form winning –
and he duly did…
Finally, something appeared to be wrong with Wychwoods
Brook in the handicap chase at 4:15 and he was pulled up before half
way.
Second favourite, Sonny the One took advantage – but he only just managed to hold off Cork Citizen.

It
was a really big run from the runner-up on his debut for David Pipe –
particularly as he was very weak in the betting (6/1 early out to 12/1 at the
off).
You
have to think that he won’t be long going one better – though I suspect the
market won’t be quite so generous next time…
TVB.
