Daily write-up - Feb 8th

There are just a couple of very unappealing cards tomorrow – so I’m going to have a ‘proper’ day off !

The weather caused more frustration today, with the morning rain at Musselburgh, effectively making a nonsense of my race previews.
By the time racing got underway, the ground was riding soft, which was no good for the likes of Simon Squirrel and My Brother Sylvest (both of whom had been sent on long journeys, in search of quick ground).
It did however work in the favour of Vendor – and he went very close to winning (which would have been even more irritating !).
At Naas, JP McManus managed to win the 3:20 race – but courtesy of the well backed Rogue Trader (12/1 early in to 11/2) rather than the very weak Peoples Park (6/1 out to 12 on BF).
I’ve said before, but reading those kind of races is almost impossible early – but a lot easier late, once the market moves have taken place.

On a different matter, I’ve set up a new TVB forum...
As those of you who used it will know, the old one had become pretty much inaccessible.
I’ve managed to find – and set-up – a basic new one, which should last us through to the end of the season.
I’ve had a hand full of the guys help me test it out and it seems to work be working OK.
It’s not brilliant - though it does a job and is probably a bit better than the old one.
Unfortunately, we’ve effectively lost the posts from the old one – though they do still exist, if you are able to access it !

In order to use the new forum, you will need to register with an email address and a password.
When you try to access it, I will be sent a notification which I will need to authorise.
It is possible to receive copies of all forum posts via email (and indeed post via email) – it has some other useful features, as well...
There is little of interest on the forum at the moment (a few of the guys have been dissecting a ‘race of the day’, to help test things out – but that’s about it). I will however, put up a few posts over the next day or two (including some interesting analysis of this seasons results), to make it worth your while signing on.
I’m sure most of you already know whether you will use the forum (based on whether you used the old one) – but it will certainly be good to see a few of you in there (and hopefully a few more, will gain benefit from just reading the posts that are made).
Here is a link to it:

Anyway, aside from that, I expect to be back bright and early on Tuesday morning – possibly with a tip or two – but at very least some views on the days action (assuming it is a little better than tomorrows !)

TVB.
